新冠病毒COVID-19大流行年代, 非接觸式體溫計大行其道, 令大部份人對測量體溫起了顛覆性認知, 其實體外(如皮膚)測量會因環境影響其準確性, 只適用於大量人流篩檢; 醫護人員決定個別人仕是否發燒, 仍有賴傳統電子體溫計如口探, 腋窩, 肛探, 鼓膜等.

Non-contact infrared thermometer or thermal imaging system has been widely used everywhere as screening device for large crowd after the outbreak of COVID-19. However, body surface temperature such as forehead and wrist may not provide a reliable guide for fever. Traditional digital thermometer such as mouth, armpit, rectal and tympanic will provide a much confirmed reading.
